Disney Cruise Line is moving faster than expected to grow its fleet. During a recent earnings call, Disney Experiences chairman Josh D'Amaro announced that the company's plan to reach 13 total ships has been pushed up by a full year — from 2031 to 2030.
The revised schedule has the Disney Believe, the next named ship in the lineup, arriving in late 2027 with a formal reveal planned for October. In 2029, two more ships will join the fleet: a Wish-class vessel designed specifically for Disney Cruise Line's Japan operations — details of which were shared recently by the Oriental Land Company — and the first ship in a brand-new, smaller class that falls between the existing Magic class and Dream class in size.
That new mid-size class will ultimately include three ships total, with the second arriving in late 2029 and the third in 2030. All three will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. Names for those ships have not yet been announced.
To put the full picture in context: Disney Cruise Line had five ships when the expansion was first revealed in 2024 — the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy, and Wish. Since then, three more have already launched: the Treasure, Destiny, and Adventure. The Disney Believe will become the ninth ship in the fleet when she debuts.
