Disney Cruise Line came to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event with a full slate of news. Four notable announcements emerged from the Disney Experiences Showcase, touching on new ships, expanded sailings, and fresh itineraries for existing vessels.
On the sailing routes front, Disney confirmed it will double the number of cruises departing from the Port of San Diego, though no specific timeline was given for the expansion. The Disney Wish is set to head to Europe in Summer 2027, while the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will both return to Alaska.
The upcoming Disney Believe cruise ship also got a closer look. Set to begin sailing in late 2027, the ship draws inspiration from beloved Disney stories including Encanto, Frozen, Moana, The Little Mermaid, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Its Grand Hall will feature a bronze statue of Moana alongside Pua and Heihei, reflecting the optimistic spirit of exploration from those films. The hull will show Woody and Buzz crafting the Disney Believe logo with oversized yellow crayons in an animated-film style, while the bow places Tinker Bell front and center, flanked by silhouettes of Peter Pan characters in flight.
Perhaps the most forward-looking announcement was the reveal of an entirely new class of Disney Cruise Line ships set to debut in 2029. Positioned in size between Disney's classic vessels and its newer ships, the new class is intended to open up destinations that current ships cannot reach. Details beyond that remain limited for now.
