More scaffolding has been installed along the Bay Lake side of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, as exterior refurbishment work continues on the A-frame hotel at Walt Disney World.
According to WDW News Today, the newest work is concentrated on the building’s southern end near the Convention Center. Temporary barriers block the work area, while beige scrims now cover balconies above some of the platforms. Additional scaffolding has also gone up in two architectural bays closer to the center of the resort, with more pieces staged on the ground for installation.
The refurbishment moved to the Bay Lake-facing side last month. Crews had been working on the Magic Kingdom side during the summer.
The project is focused on maintenance to balconies, walls and windows rather than major changes to the resort’s facade, WDW News Today reported. Construction began in September 2024 and was initially expected to finish a year later. Disney subsequently extended the timeline through July 2026, then moved the expected completion date again to the end of 2027.
