After years of serving essentially the same Thanksgiving-style, family-style meal as its neighbor Liberty Tree Tavern, The Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom is finally striking out on its own. Walt Disney World has confirmed that beginning this September, the Frontierland restaurant will debut an entirely new food and beverage concept built around small plates, specialty cocktails, and a relaxed, drop-in atmosphere.
The first menu items to be previewed include a shareable charcuterie board loaded with cured meats, cheeses, smoked pork, and pickles. On the drinks side, Disney has teased a strawberry hot honey lemonade and a prickly pear margarita, with more food and beverage details still to come. Reservations will be available, but walk-up guests are also welcome — a departure from the structured, reservation-heavy experience the space previously offered.
Guests who love the old-school feast aren't out of luck: the traditional family-style dinner lives on next door at Liberty Tree Tavern. The change at Diamond Horseshoe is about giving the historic venue its own identity rather than running a duplicate operation. Disney had already hinted at the shift earlier this summer with a temporary Jessie's Roundup pop-up experience in the same space.
The timing fits a broader transformation underway in Frontierland. Construction on the new Piston Peak National Park now occupies the former Rivers of America area, and work on Villains Land continues nearby — meaning much of the surrounding landscape is already unrecognizable to longtime park visitors. A reinvented Diamond Horseshoe slots neatly into that evolving picture.
Disney has not yet announced whether the new concept will become a permanent fixture or remain a limited-time pop-up. Full menu details and reservation information are expected to be released closer to the September launch. This story was first reported by Disney Fanatic.
