If you've been to Connections Eatery at EPCOT lately, you may have noticed something different about your tray. The quick-service restaurant has swapped out its ceramic white plates and bowls for paper versions, a subtle but noticeable shift for anyone who likes to photograph their food.
The ceramic plates had a clean, polished look that kept greasy foods — think pizza and saucy sandwiches — looking tidy in photos. The new paper plates and bowls are decidedly more utilitarian, and grease does begin to show through the sides, though it reportedly held up reasonably well on the bottom.
To put the new dishware through its paces, the AllEars team ordered the Cheese Pizza, one of the greasier menu options. While some grease worked through the sides of the plate, the bottom stayed intact — a modest victory for the paper format.
The trade-off, of course, is visual. Food photos that once looked polished against bright white ceramic now carry more of a casual, food-court feel. Whether that bothers you likely depends on how much of your Disney trip ends up on your camera roll.
