Health inspectors had a busy week across Central Florida, forcing nearly a dozen restaurants to temporarily close between July 20 and 26, according to state records. One Orlando establishment, however, stood out from the rest — China Lee on South Kirkman Road has now been shut down five separate times in 2026 alone.
China Lee's troubled year began back in March, when inspectors discovered more than 100 live cockroaches and roughly 400 rodent droppings on the premises. Subsequent closures followed in April, May, and again earlier in July. The restaurant's most recent shutdown, on July 21, flagged a range of concerns including roach egg sacs in food storage areas, rodent droppings near food prep equipment, multiple temperature violations for items like egg drop soup and cooked pork, and employees handling food without washing their hands. The restaurant was permitted to reopen the following day after meeting inspection standards.
Other Central Florida locations temporarily closed during the same period included Catrina's Mexican Fusion and US3 Investments in Orlando, Troy's in Cocoa, Urban Soul Daiquiris & Wingz in Daytona Beach, Ichigo Ichie Buffet in Sanford, a Denny's in St. Petersburg, a Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins in Tampa, Mezza Lune at The Villages, and Baby John's Ice Creamery in Winter Park — the last of which was closed for unlicensed activity. Most were back open within one to three days after addressing inspectors' findings.
