Shoppers strolling Hollywood Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios may notice something different inside Celebrity 5 & 10: the checkout counter that once anchored the merchandise area is gone, and new flooring now covers the spot where it stood. The change is part of a summer-long refurbishment affecting both Celebrity 5 & 10 and its neighboring shop, The Darkroom.

According to WDWNT, the new flooring was installed on September 13 and features large beige, black, green, and blue tiles in a square pattern — a noticeable departure from the previous gray, black, and rust-toned design with a triangle-and-diamond motif. Where the register once sat, guests will now find a golden outlet cover flush with the floor, a detail that hints the permanent counter is unlikely to return to that location.

The story of the missing register has been unfolding for a while. Earlier this year, both of The Darkroom's checkout registers disappeared; one eventually came back, but the second never did. The new flooring at Celebrity 5 & 10 — which shared that second register — now suggests it won't be returning in any permanent form, though a temporary cashout station during busy holiday periods remains a possibility.

Guests won't notice any disruption to their shopping in the meantime. Both The Darkroom and Celebrity 5 & 10 are open and operating normally, stocking the usual mix of Disney Trading Pins, Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears, housewares, and other Disney Parks merchandise. Walt Disney World Resort has not made any official statement about the refurbishment, which is typical for projects that don't require closures.
