Disney has opened a preview display for the reimagined Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, near the Ariel meet-and-greet. The exhibit includes costumes, scale-model dioramas and concept art for the Magic Kingdom attraction’s planned overhaul.
Carousel of Progress has been closed since July 5, 2026, and Disney plans to reopen it in late spring 2027. The update will shift the show’s timeline to four settings: the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, a Halloween celebration in 1985, New Year’s Eve in 1999 and a distant-future home set off planet.
The preview indicates the show will begin with a new prologue inspired by the 1964 television special Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair. It will feature a life-sized Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney on a virtual television soundstage before the theater moves into the first act.
Among the items on display are a 1969 costume for John, the family’s father, and a distant-future costume for Sarah, the mother. Dioramas show John in a modern kitchen with Rover and Sarah in an off-planet living room with a sunken conversation area and fireplace.

Disney also plans new voice performances from Bryan Cranston as John and Jamie Lee Curtis as Sarah. The Sherman Brothers’ “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” will remain part of the attraction, along with returning characters including Rover and Uncle Orville.
