With 28 places to eat on Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas, narrowing down the best bites takes serious commitment — and serious appetite. Royal Caribbean Blog's Matt Hochberg did exactly that, spending a week (plus a bonus four-night preview sailing) working his way through the megaship's dining lineup and landing on 10 dishes he'd order again without hesitation.
On the included-with-fare side, Hochberg singles out El Loco Fresh's DIY taco salad — built around the chicken or beef chili and loaded at the toppings bar — as a standout snack or late lunch. The smashburger at Basecamp in Thrill Island earned high praise despite being easy to overlook, and Aquadome Market's crepes (especially Nutella and strawberry) are worth waiting in line for. The French onion soup, available nightly at Coastal Kitchen, may be the most enthusiastic endorsement in the bunch: Hochberg says he's never had a better version anywhere on land, and once grabbed a bowl to-go in the final half hour of service.
For specialty dining, the Izumi Japanese restaurant's sushi sampler stood out — Hochberg noted the fish quality was especially impressive, possibly due to the European port itinerary. At Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, the chicken parmigiana beat out the margarita pizza for top honors. The immersive Royal Railway Legend Station restaurant, priced at $165 per adult, earned a spot on the list largely for its Indian curry course, which Hochberg called some of the best Indian food he's had on any Royal Caribbean ship.
A few guilty pleasures rounded out the list: the campfire cookie at Playmakers ($8.99 à la carte) — a chocolate cookie topped with marshmallow and served with a vanilla ice cream chaser — and the "Oreoasis" milkshake from the ship's dedicated milkshake bar, Desserted. For a lighter option, the grab-and-go vegetable crudités with hummus and tzatziki at Pearl Cafe made for a balcony-friendly, guilt-free snack.
This rundown comes from Royal Caribbean Blog, where Matt Hochberg covers the cruise line in depth.
