Disney is testing a redesigned standard room in the Little Mermaid section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which opened in 2012. The resort has four animated-film-themed areas: Little Mermaid standard rooms and family suites inspired by Cars, The Lion King and Finding Nemo.
Two fully furnished Little Mermaid rooms are currently being used for beta testing, with cast members, executives, Imagineers and their families staying in them to help identify possible refinements. The refreshed concept uses an Under the Sea theme, brighter aquatic colors, character artwork and details including fork-shaped bureau handles.
The room footprint is not changing, but the test layout replaces one of the two queen beds with a Murphy bed. When folded away during the day, the bed creates more open floor space and leaves a table available for dining. Disney has not announced when the refurbished Little Mermaid rooms will open to guests.

Disney is also developing a new look for The Lion King family suites, though that project remains at the concept-art stage and a model room is still months away, according to the report.
