Disney’s Animal Kingdom has changed its rope drop procedures, ending the practice of holding guests in the center of Discovery Island until the park’s official opening time, according to WDW News Today.
Guests can now enter most lands before Early Entry begins. Attraction queues remain limited to eligible Early Entry visitors, with Cast Members scanning tickets at attraction entrances to confirm resort hotel status and the associated benefit.
Guests who do not have Early Entry may wait near an attraction entrance or explore the available lands until the park opens to all visitors. Pandora – The World of Avatar is the exception: access to that land before regular opening is restricted to resort hotel guests with Early Entry, WDW News Today reported.
The update follows a July change that moved non-Early Entry guests from the Oasis, the area before Discovery Island, into Discovery Island while they waited for the park’s 8 a.m. public opening.
