All Elite Wrestling has chosen Orlando as the home of its WrestleDream pay-per-view, set for October 17 at Addition Financial Arena — the same venue that hosted AEW's Worlds End event back in December 2024. That show saw Jon Moxley retain his world championship and Kazuchika Okada win the Continental Classic, and both remain prominent figures on the roster today.
The current AEW world champion is Kenny Omega, who happens to be an Orlando resident himself, giving Central Florida fans an extra reason to show up loud. AEW CEO Tony Khan told the Orlando Sentinel he created the original WrestleDream in 2023 as a tribute to legendary Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki, one year after Inoki's passing. "It's one of my favorite times of the year," Khan said. "It's featured some of my favorite moments in AEW."
Khan, who also reflected on Florida's deep pro-wrestling roots — including a fondly remembered 1986 Ric Flair vs. Barry Windham match at the old Eddie Graham Sports Complex in east Orlando — said the Sunshine State has hosted more AEW events than any other. The promotion also ran its AEW Dark streaming show at Universal Orlando from 2021 through 2023.
AEW, founded in 2019 and based in Jacksonville, airs weekly programming on TBS and TNT and has staged events in London, Mexico, and across the globe. WrestleDream has become an annual traveling pay-per-view since its debut, and the Orlando date marks the promotion's first pay-per-view stop in the city in nearly two years.
