If you're spending a day at Disney's Hollywood Studios and need a sit-down-but-keep-it-quick meal, ABC Commissary is one of the more centrally located options in the park. Themed to evoke the cafeteria of an old Hollywood backlot, the restaurant sits near Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway and the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, and it offers one of the larger seating capacities of any quick-service spot in the park — useful if you're wrangling a big group.
The menu leans into variety, with options for plant-based eaters alongside heartier fare. The Pork Carnitas Tacos ($11.49) came out as a standout — juicy, well-seasoned meat on flour tortillas with avocado salsa verde and pickled onions, though the Mexican rice and beans on the side were considered a little flat by comparison. The Arugula-Farro Salad ($4.59 as a side, $8.29 with chicken) was found chewy and texturally interesting but suffered from a noticeably light hand with the Dijon vinaigrette, leaving it on the dry side. The Happy Daze cocktail ($15.50), built on coconut rum, melon and banana liqueurs, and fruit juices, was described as an easy-drinking, tropical sipper — pleasant if not particularly complex.
The bigger talking point is the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($12.79), which has recently been reformulated. Where the previous version was apparently overstuffed and aggressively spiced with buffalo heat, the current iteration comes across as considerably more restrained — more of a cheesy chicken sandwich than a true buffalo experience. The buffalo dipping sauce that previously accompanied the dish is also no longer served alongside it or available in the condiment area, a change that compounded the disappointment. On the upside, the swap to shoestring fries was seen as an improvement in texture — just be ready to eat them fast before they lose their crunch.
Overall, ABC Commissary earns its place as a reliable, centrally located option for large groups or anyone craving the carnitas tacos. But fans of the old Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese may want to temper their expectations — or load up on hot sauce from elsewhere in the park.
