Jacksonville and the surrounding region are gearing up for a full slate of celebrations as 904 Day on Friday, September 4 rolls into Labor Day weekend. The annual 904 Day tradition encourages residents to shop local, explore Northeast Florida, and show some regional pride — and this year's programming spans free community gatherings, live music, cultural showcases, food trucks, and more.
In downtown Jacksonville, LIFT JAX and VyStar are hosting a 904 Day Breakfast at VyStar Tower starting at 8 a.m., with Mayor Donna Deegan set to deliver the keynote. Later in the day, Riverfront Plaza hosts a free First Friday-style celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring live performances by Adam Cotton and Jupiter's Porch. James Weldon Johnson Park wraps up the evening with an official After Hours event from 6 to 9 p.m., including music, local food vendors, and signature cocktails. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is offering free admission from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is discounting general admission by $9.04 through September 7.
Outside the city core, Orange Park Mall is hosting a family-friendly 904 Day celebration with roller-skating demonstrations by the Rolling Gems, and the J.C. Kitaif Clay County Pro Rodeo runs September 4–6 at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs, complete with a pre-rodeo market, mechanical bull, and pony rides. Over in St. Augustine, more than 100 local artists are scheduled to perform across 17 venues September 4–6, alongside the St. Augustine Songwriters Festival and a Record Fair. For those who prefer their holiday weekend with some serious horsepower, Monster Jam takes over VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday and Sunday with a truck lineup that includes crowd favorites Grave Digger and El Toro Loco. Shows are scheduled at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, with an early Pit Party option before each afternoon show.
